This book is a practical manual on "the use that the Filipinos make of their plants in the treatment of disease." It talks about the many and diverse plants which are a treatment to cough, wounds, diarrhea, or dysentery the ubiquitos makahiya, the simple bayabas, and the foul smelling kalumpang. This edition of Plantas Medicinales de Filipinas is accompanied by a translation by Jerome B. Thomas, Jr. published in 1907 and here modified to increase contemporary usefulness. Dr. Vivian Tolentino of Ateneo de Manila University, revised the scientific names and other details to reflect current practice while Mr. Emmanuel Cordoba provides illustrations of 24 watercolor paintings for this edition.
