When the Japanes captured Clark Field near Manila, the planes got away safely, but the men had to walk out. And when the men got to where the planes were supposed to be in Mindanao, the new base had been bombed to rubble. The Navy could send a ship for them, but they had to reach the coast--and the Japanese Army was hot on their heels. Colonel Holcomb's only chance was to trick the Japaneses colonel who opposed him, and to hope for air support from the bombers that weren't there! --From the book cover
