Marital spirituality, psychopathology and martial satisfaction among couples/ Jeannie A. Perez.

By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: Dasmariñas, Cavite: UFRO, 2009Description: 67 pages: illustration 27 cmSubject(s): Summary: This descriptive-correlation research aimed to test whether psychopathology (anxiety and depression) and marital spirituality can predict marital satisfaction using path analysis of 462 research respondents. Using self-report measures of marital spirituality, anxiety, depression and marital satisfaction, it is revealed that among the three exogenous variables, marital spirituality was the highest predictor followed by anxiety and depression. However, the effects of psychopathology (anxiety and depression) on marital satisfaction were attenuated by marital spirituality as shown by the indirect effect coefficients of psychopathology on marital satisfaction through marital spirituality. Other variables like education, gender, place of residence, age, and length of marriage were also found to be significant on the four major variables. Results of this research further support the importance of marital spirituality in marital functioning and couples and family therapy/counseling.
