Summary: While preparing this source book, a cornet (Hyakutake B2) was traversing the skies. This generated lots of inquiries from instant skygazers as to the nature of this phenomenon. Most associated it with superstition especially end-time catastrophes, depending on the position of the tail, they said. When Pinatubo erupted, there was news about diamonds coming out of the volcano. However, these were just quartz. During a super typhoon (Rosing) in 1995, people were demanding a more "accurate" forecast. Many are not aware however, that accuracy is the vaguest word, if non-existent in weather forecasting. --From the preface
