He had also deciphered the archaic transcriptions of Bisayan words in some manuscripts of Fr.Francisco Alcina, a seventeenth-century Jesuit missionary in Samar and Leyte. The book provides a representative set of fundamental Bisayan vocabulary before many of its words or their meanings were permanently atlered, garbled, forgotten, or replaced by adopted or new jargon with the impact of Western colonialism and the intrusion of dominant external languages. --Back cover of the book. | ||
