It focuses on one aspect of the Philippines - its arts. The arts here refer to all forms used by natives of the Philippines to express themselves, specifically their thoughts and emotions, in a coherent and effective manner. These would include architecture and community planning, visual arts, dance, music, theater and film and literature and their various expressions in the indigenous, Spanish-influenced and contemporary traditions. The encyclopedia is divided into 10 volumes. The first two volumes contain master essays on the major ethno-linguistic groups of the Philippines, arranged alphabetically from Aeta to Yakan. The next seven volumes focus on the seven arts, with one volume dedicated to each art from in this order: Architecture, Visual Arts, Dance, Music, Theater, Film, and Literature. | ||
