520 _aForcing the Pace: Founded in 1930, the Partido Komunista ng Pilipinas was soon declared illegal by the US colonial authorities. Regaining its legality later in the decade, by 1942 it was at the helm of the Hukbalahap, the most effective guerrilla organization during the Japanese occupation during World War II. With the reconquest of the Philippines by the returning American forces, the PKP and the Huks fund themselves under attack by their presumed wartime allies. Blocked from participation on the political front and then bombarded by government forces, the PKP returned to guerrilla warfare. Forcing the Pace tells the story of the formation of the PKP, the WWII resistance, and the "Huk rebellion," as well as analyzing the factors involved. (Source: http://flipreads.com)
