Specifically, the study describes what and how often selected parents of children in pre-school age in Dasmariñas, Cavite read before their children, the kind of materials they read to them and frequency of reading, and the reading strategies they use when reading to them. Findings show that there are significant relationships between certain reading strategies and educational attainment and annual income. The preference for the storybook as material for reading to children is one significant finding. The study recommends a training program for parents to help them become better facilitators of learning at home.
