520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | A biomolecule is any molecule that is present in living organisms, including large macromoleculessuch as proteins, polysaccharides, lipids, and nucleic acids, as well as small molecules such as primarymetabolites, secondary metabolites, and natural products. The text Biomolecules explains biochemicalconcepts while offering a unified presentation of life and its variation through evolution. First chapter discusses on biomolecules and biomarkers used in diagnosis of alcohol drinking and in monitoring therapeutic interventions. A review on recovery of biomolecules from food wastes has been presentedin second chapter. In third chapter, an optical fiber sensor, operating on the principles of Fresnel reflection, has been proposed and demonstrated as a means to measure the growth rates and cell quantities from three stem cell lines. The importance of protein misfolding and aggregation in amyloid-related diseases has been described in in fourth chapter. Fifth chapter describes different strategies of surface elaboration for a better control of biomolecule adsorption. Sixth chapter presents a fast, highly sensitive, and low-cost tapered optical fiber biosensor that enables the label-free detection of biomolecules. A critical evaluation of some common in vitro antioxidant capacity methods has been provided in seventh chapter. The extraction of biomolecules using phosphonium-based ionic liquids + K3PO4 aqueous biphasic systems has been proposed in eighth chapter. Ninth chapter focuses on monolithsin bioprocess technology. In tenth chapter, we highlight an approach to distinguish the contribution of different reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS). Eleventh chapter explores variations of a widely-used theoretical model for biomolecular simulations, in order to help bridge the description of biomolecular functional and folding dynamics. The development of bioorthogonal reactions and their applications in bioconjugation have been presented in twelfth chapter. --Back cover of the book. |
