| Summary, etc. | This book is a modest contribution to the sparse literature on elections focusing on election administration. At a time when the integrity of the electoral process constitutes a major concern whether under the Marcos or Aquino regimes, a study on electoral machinery cannot be more opportune. As such, the infirmities of election laws along with the laws of the procedures and their implications on the credibility of the results become legitimate issues to be probed systematically. Combining the critical and empirical traditions in the social sciences, this book offers an alternative view of looking at the dynamics and quality of the electoral process shaped by Marcos and Aquino administrations. Theoretically, methodologically, and practically, this volume goes against the mainstream of thought and established ways of conducting elections. This book also takes the view from below in relation to the perspective of the rich and powerful, the latter having dominated the electoral reform efforts of the country. |
