Having studied invertebrates with the help of this program, students will be able to: identify and sort animals as invertebrates or vertebrates; describe various adaptations that have ensured the survival of invertebrates; research, sort, and analyze information about several invertebrates in order to explore the relationship among body structure, symmetry, and presence of a nervous system; compare and contrast the characteristics of invertebrates from two different phyla; sort cephalopods by characteristics; describe the relationship between an invertebrate's habitat and its body structure and behavior; and develop and describe a methodology for studying a class of invertebrates, such as spiders.
