The focus of the traditional role of human resource has changed drastically from merely providing services to integrating human resource into organizational business planning. This study aimed to identify the critical competencies of the HR leaders from the electronics companies at CEPZA for the year 2004-2005 and then to determine how these identified competencies impact the organization where they serve. The descriptive research design coupled with correlational research design was utilized to capture the critical competencies of the HR leaders in selected companies. The design also focused on describing the HR leaders personal and work profile. Arithmetic mean and Pearson's Rho or correlation efficient were used in analyzing and interpreting data. On the basis of the findings and conclusions the following recommendations are given: HR leaders must establish measurement systems to reflect contributions
