Zeal for Action is about the spirit and passion to "see, judge and act." It calls young people to be aware of community dynamics, analyze social realities and get engaged. Zeal for Action facilitates the building of social capital as it encourages the young generations to work together for a common purpose and act collectively to contribute in resolving community social concerns. Zeal for Action is a textbook on community action. Zeal for Action provides an overview on community engagement framework and principles. It introduces the concepts and perspectives of community which seek to explain the importance of studying community dynamics and community action in relation to applied social sciences and students' future career options. It offers a distilled critical view from various community development perspectives and highlights its significance to national development in order to improve the quality of life of the Filipinos especially the poor. It promotes a people-centered approach with core values that put premium on human dignity, social justice, people's participation and empowerment.
